Keywords
carbon nitride - photocatalysis - olefin functionalization - sulfonylation - cycloaddition - oxytrifluoromethylation
Significance
Electron-rich alkenes underwent arylsulfonylation (eq 1), cycloaddition of α,α,α-bromodifluoro amides (eq 2), and oxytrifluoromethylation (eq 3) with a carbon nitride nanosheet (CNN) catalyst under photoirradiation conditions (456 nm LED). The recyclability of CNN was examined for the cyclization (eq 2), where a slight loss of its catalytic performance was observed through 10 reuses.
Comment
The CNN catalyst was prepared through the consecutive thermal treatment (500 °C for 6 h × 3 times) of bulk carbon nitride (BCN). Spectroscopic studies and BET measurements of BCN and CNN revealed their structural similarity and significant enhancement of the specific surface area through the thermal treatment.
