Chronische Entzündungen spielen nachweislich auch in der Mundhöhle eine Rolle. Mit einer entsprechenden Ernährung können einerseits entzündliche Prozesse gehemmt und andererseits die Regenerationsfähigkeit des Gewebes gestärkt werden. Zudem sollte im Fall von Übergewicht eine Gewichtsreduktion angestrebt werden. Um Patienten kompetent bezüglich Ernährungsfragen beraten zu können, liefert dieser Fortbildungsbeitrag Informationen zur Ernährung bei oralen Entzündungsprozessen. Nach dem Durcharbeiten dieses Beitrags sollten Sie
▪sowohl entzündungsfördernde als auch entzündungshemmende Ernährungsfaktoren benennen können,
▪die biologischen Mechanismen, über die eine bestimmte Ernährung Entzündungsprozesse beeinflusst, reflektiert haben,
▪Patienten Hinweise zur Ernährungsumstellung geben können.
