Significance

The authors reported the asymmetric Baeyer-Villiger oxidation of symmetrical cyclo­butanones with urea-hydrogen peroxide in the presence of Pd(II) and a new terpene-derived
P,N-ligand. The resulting lactones were obtained in high yields and with good enantioselectivities.
