United European Gastroenterology Week (UEGW)

Starting October 18 the stage in Vienna will be set for what is the highlight of the year – from a European gastroenterologist's point of view: the 16th UEGW 2008. As in previous years ESGE will be responsible for the endoscopic content of the Postgraduate Teaching Programme and will be offering several activities in the ESGE Learning Area throughout the week. A brochure outlining the complete scope of events hosted by ESGE is included as a supplement in this issue of Endoscopy.

Very few of the ESGE activities require pre-registration, and all of them are open to the delegates of the conference free of charge.

ESGE Hands-on Training on Biologic Models is one of the most popular activities in the ESGE Learning Area. This activity, which is held in cooperation with the European Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Nurses and Associates (ESGENA), has been expanded and will be offered on both Saturday October 18 and Sunday October 19, 2008.

On Monday and Tuesday activities at the Training Center will continue with training at simulator and capsule endoscopy stations, manned by skilled technicians who will assist and give guidance where possible. Special demonstrations will also take place and further information regarding the exact times can be obtained at the center.

Other attractions at the ESGE Learning Theatre are the ESGE Lecture Theatre which offers talks from experts focussing on topics of special interest to a small audience and the DVD Learning Centre, where the latest teaching material can be viewed.
