Significance

The three alkaloids were isolated from Lycopodium paniculatum and Lycopodium magellanicum and have been the subject of many synthetic studies due to the challenging tetracyclic core. Two Pauson-Khand reactions (PKR) produced the two fused bicyclic systems that constitute the structural framework of the natural products.
