Significance

The stable organic radical F4BImNN forms hydrogen-bonded 1-D chains that display ferromagnetic coupling between adjacent radicals with an intrachain exchange constant of Jchain/k = +22 K. The dominant interaction between chains is antiferromagnetic exchange and a bulk sample of the radical displays an antiferromagnetic phase below a Néel temperature of 0.72 K.
