Significance

Reported is the one-pot synthesis of highly substituted benzofuran-2-ylacetamides from the reaction of 1-(2-allyloxyaryl)-2-yn-1-ols under sequential Pd(0)-Pd(II)-homobimetallic catalysis; there are two reactions performed in sequence by two different complexes of the same metal in different oxidation states. The proposed mechanism is reasonable and is supported by the detection of intermediates of type A in the reaction mixture.
