This synthesis of the potent neuraminidase inhibitor (-)-oseltamivir phosphate (tamiflu) features the stereospecific and regioselective nucleophilic addition of an ammonia equivalent to the planar chiral cationic iron carbonyl complex (-)-C to give F.
