Because of the changing population structure inflammatory and non-inflammatory joint diseases will be more and more in the focus of general medicine. It has to be acknowledged that the initial symptoms of older patients might vary and differ from younger patients. The characteristics of the classic joint diseases in the elderly should be focused on in this article.
