Significance

Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease affecting around 3% of the human population. It can result in liver inflammation often leading to liver cirrhosis and cancer. The synthesis of a potential submicromolar inhibitor of HCV RNA replication is reported featuring Grigg’s 1,2-dipolar cycloaddition protocol to construct the pyrrolidine ring.
