Significance

A molecular basket is closed through the coordination of three pyridine rings to a silver(I) ion, and its confirmation in solution is monitored with 1H NMR spectroscopy. The authors previously reported the synthesis of the semi-rigid, basket-shaped compound 1 (V. Maslak et al. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2006, 128, 5887).
