Significance

It has been reported previously by Shi (Synlett 2007, 19-30) that chiral diphenyl-thiophosphoramides, -selenophosphoramides and phosphoramides of various diamines are effective ligands for several catalytic, stereoselective C-C bond-forming reactions. In this report, the authors make a further investigation of the reactivity of these types of ligands in asymmetric transformations. Although only moderate enantioselectivities are observed, these are only the initial results. The thiophosphoramide-copper complex appears to have vast potential for other copper-catalyzed asymmetric reactions.
