Significance

Asymmetric hydrovinylation of alkenes with ethylene remains a very important and economical means for generation of useful chiral molecules. RajanBabu has enhanced the enantioselectivity of this reaction by adding a methyl group at the 3′-position of the MOP ligand. A variety of vinyl arenes are hydrovinylated with good ee values (up to 81% ee).
