Seltene Variation einer fokalen Epilepsie: Mastikatoriusanfälle

Summary

Masticatory seizures according to Foerster (1936) and Janz (1969) have been rarely reported and represent a manifestation of focal epilepsy.

We report on a 33 years old patient with acute onset of masticatory seizures. MRI and SPECT studies led to the diagnosis of a cavernoma at the bottom of the central region. After adequate anticonvulsive treatment the seizures stopped.

Zusammenfassung

Mastikatoriusanfälle stellen eine seltene Variante einer fokalen Epilepsie dar. Der Läsionsort ist am Fuß der Zentralregion zu lokalisieren. Wir berichten über eine Patientin mit erstmalig aufgetretenen Mastokatoriusanfällen im Alter von 33 Jahren. MRT und SPECT-Untersuchungen zeigten eine kavernöse Gefäßmalformation in der vermuteten Hirnregion. Unter medikamentöser antikonvulsiver Therapie konnte Anfallsfreiheit erzielt werden.
