Significance

Isolated from the stem bark of Machaerium multiflorum, (+)-machaeriol D is a member of the 5,6-secohexahydrodibenzopyran family of natural products. The She and Pan group reports the first enantioselective synthesis of (+)-machaeriol D making use of a highly regio- and stereoselective SN2′ reaction as the focal point of the synthesis.
