Significance

Fluorinated compounds are of great utility in medicinal and agricultural chemistry (see first book below) and the selective introduction of a fluorine atom in a molecule has become a useful approach in new drug design. In this respect, many different strategies have been reported over the last few years (see second book below). In the present paper, the authors report the first enantioselective allylic monofluoromethylation using fluorobis(phenylsulfonyl)methane and its application in the synthesis of biologically relevant compounds.
