Segmental mandibular defect was difficult to reconstruct before the advent of free tissue transfers. Although reconstruction has become possible using vascularized bone graft nowadays, the functional deficit from such complicated reconstructive procedures still cannot meet the expectation of both patients and surgeons. This presentation highlighted the most recent advances in reconstruction and rehabilitation of segmental mandibular defect. It covered the techniques of harvesting, contouring, and insetting of vascularized fibula bone and insertion of osteointegrated teeth into the transferred fibula (new mandible). It demonstrated the long-term results as well.
