Significance
This report describes the synthesis of a ligand for the epoxidation of unfunctionalized olefins using hydrogen peroxide. The active catalyst is a titanium-peroxo species. The optimal reaction conditions were room temperature with dichloromethane as the solvent and 1.5 equivalents of hydrogen peroxide. The reaction conditions were effective for the epoxidation of terminal, cis-disubstituted and trisubstituted olefins.
