Significance
The chemistry in ionic liquids is recently an intensely growing field of research. Ionic liquids have a number of merits like simple recyclability, lack of toxicity and often a positive influence on the reaction outcome. One of the disadvantages of ionic liquids is their sensitivity toward bases, which makes it impossible to perform most organometallic reactions in conventional ionic liquids. Herein, the preparation and use of a new type of ionic liquids, which do not have this drawback, are described.
