"One Airway - one Disease" - Gemeinsame Therapie von allergischer Rhinitis und Asthma

Obwohl inhalative Kortikosteroide einen festen Stellenwert in der antientzündlichen Therapie bei Asthma bronchiale haben, sind viele Asthmapatienten trotzdem noch symptomatisch. Das könnte auch daran liegen, dass Steroide nur in der Lage sind, steroidsensitive Mediatoren zu hemmen, nicht aber die Leukotriene, die als weitere Verursacher der asthmatischen Entzündung gelten. Es erscheint daher naheliegend, für eine komplette Entzündungskontrolle beide Komponenten zu hemmen. Dies kann man durch eine Kombination von Leukotrienantagonisten mit inhalativen Steroiden erreichen. Therapieziele sind dabei: Entzündungshemmung, Reaktivitätsminderung, Bronchospasmolyse, Bronchoprotektion und Asthmakontrolle.
