Obwohl die Blepharitis in der klinischen Routine eine der häufigsten Augenerkrankungen darstellt, ist sie doch eine große diagnostische und therapeutische Herausforderung geblieben. Die große Varianz des klinischen Bildes einerseits, ihr chronischer, zu Rezidiven neigender Charakter und der dermatologische Aspekt andererseits beanspruchen viel Aufmerksamkeit des Ophthalmologen. So versucht diese Übersichtsarbeit bekannte diagnostische und therapeutische Ansatzpunkte der Blepharitis mit neuen Erkenntnissen zu kombinieren.
