Atypical antipsychotics were developed to avoid or at least reduce adverse drug reactions (ADRs) caused by typical antipsychotics due their interaction with the dopaminergic system. Clinical experience shows that these ADRs are less frequent in atypical antipsychotics, but they still occur. AMSP data acquired from clinical observations in Austria, Germany and Switzerland, and data from controlled clinical studies will be presented.
