Summary

This study examined the cyclic fatigue behavior of different engine-driven NiTi endodontic files in differently curved artificial canals. The artificial canals were mounted on an electronically controlled table to allow exact placement. Time until fracture was recorded. As curvature increased time until fracture decreased significantly. Files of higher taper and larger size showed an increased fracture risk when operated in a curved canal. The K3 files showed the best resistance to fracture followed by Flexmaster, NiTi GT and ProTaper.
