Der Kopfschmerzpatient beim Augenarzt

Zusammenfassung

Etwa 50 Patienten pro Monat suchen den Augenarzt wegen Kopfschmerzen auf. Nur zu etwa 20 % können augenärztliche Maßnahmen diese Kopfschmerzen bessern. Die überwiegende Mehrzahl der Patienten leidet an Migräne oder Spannungskopfschmerz. Dieser Beitrag beschreibt die wichtigsten Kopfschmerzerkrankungen und ihre Therapie. Der Augenarzt sollte es nicht dabei belassen, eine ophthalmologische Ursache der Kopfschmerzen auszuschließen, sondern er sollte sich aktiv um die korrekte Diagnosestellung und Weichenstellung für die Weiterbehandlung bemühen.

Abstract

About 50 patients contact an ophthalmologist every month because of headache. Only 20 % can be helped by ophthalmological therapeutic efforts. The vast majority of those patients suffer from migraine. This contribution gives an overview of the most common causes of headache and their therapy. The ophthalmologist should not only exclude an ophthalmological cause of the headache but also contribute to making the correct diagnosis and initiating further treatment.
