Hörende Kinder gehörloser Eltern (Codas – children of deaf adults) wachsen bimodal-bilingual in einem Mehrsprachigkeitskontext auf. Dieser geht für den Spracherwerb der Kinder mit besonderen Bedingungen einher. Die Minderheit-Mehrheitkonstellation von monomodal-bilingualen Familien und Familien mit gehörlosen Eltern zeigt dabei ähnliche Eigenschaften. Neben Gebärdensprache verwenden gehörlose Mütter auch Codeblending in der kindgerichteten Kommunikation. Diese Erwerbsbedingungen stellen eher für den Gebärdenspracherwerb eine Herausforderung dar.

Abstract

Codas (children of deaf adults) grow up in a multilingual acquisition context with specific conditions for these children. The majority-minority situation of monomodal bilingual families and families with deaf parents share similar characteristics. Deaf mothers use sign language and code-blending in the child-directed communication. These conditions offer additional challenges for the sign language acquisition.
