Das Auftreten von Aszites deutet in der Regel auf eine schwere Erkrankung hin und muss diagnostisch abgeklärt werden. Dazu gehört die diagnostische Aszitespunktion, die hier mit ihrer Indikation, der technischen Durchführung und den diagnostischen Möglichkeiten beschrieben wird.
