Ein 49-jähriger Patient mit langjährig bekannter HIV-Infektion im Stadium AIDS (CDC Stadium C3 bei Erstdiagnose im Jahr 2007) und Polytoxikomanie stellte sich aufgrund einer progredienten Verschlechterung des Allgemeinzustands mit Gewichtsverlust von 20 kg innerhalb der letzten drei Monate vor. Der letzte Helferzellstatus betrug 376 (26 %), der aktuelle 138 (24 %) CD4 + -T-Lymphozyten pro μl Blut. Die Einleitung einer kombinierten antiretroviralen Therapie (cART) hatte der Patient bislang abgelehnt.
