Abstract

Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) is an underrecognized disorder. Several cognitive-behavioral models of BDD have been developed explaining its development and maintenance. However, empirical evidence regarding risk factors is still scarce. Cognitive-behavioral therapy has been shown to be an effective treatment for BDD and there are treatment manuals providing guidance for state-of-the-art cognitive-behavioral therapy.
