Beide Erkrankungen – Katarakt und das Glaukom – treten primär im höheren Alter auf und werden aufgrund der demografischen Entwicklung in Zukunft noch häufiger anzutreffen sein. Liegt diese Komorbidität vor, sollte eine kombinierte Operation erwogen werden, wobei die Entscheidung für oder gegen ein kombiniertes Verfahren immer individuell getroffen werden sollte.

  • Bei Komorbidität Katarakt und Glaukom sollte eine kombinierte Operation diskutiert werden.

  • Die Kombination bedeutet nicht immer einen zusätzlichen drucksenkenden Effekt.

  • Die Entscheidung für oder gegen ein kombiniertes Verfahren sollte immer individuell getroffen werden.

  • Auch patientenseitige Faktoren, wie z. B. Angst vor Eingriffen, sollten in die Diskussion mit einbezogen werden.

  • Die minimalinvasiven Verfahren sind technisch in der Regel leichter zu kombinieren.
