Introduction

A perforated corneal ulcer poses a great challenge for the ophthalmologist in particular as emergency treatment is necessary in most cases to restore the ocular integrity and preserve visual function [1]. Furthermore, especially in inflamed corneal tissue, tectonic grafting will have a high complication rate [2] with melting host tissue and loosening of sutures. Additionally, follow-up care remains a challenge in geriatric patients living in rural areas. In order to avoid some of the problems to be expected by tectonic grafting, this case report shows that corneal perforations can also be sealed from the inside with a Descemetʼs Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty graft.
