Effekte einer Low-Level-Lasertherapie bei der Behandlung des hormonell-, altersbedingten Haarausfalls der Frau im Rahmen einer 6-monatigen Studie

Zusammenfassung

Ziel der Studie: Haarausfall stellt ein weit verbreitetes Problem sowohl bei Männern als auch bei Frauen dar. Ziel der Studie war der objektive Nachweis von Veränderungen der Haardichte von Terminal- und Vellus-Haaren sowie die Untersuchung des Verhältnisses von Anagen- zu Telogen-Haaren durch die Low-Level-Lasertherapie (savehair).

Methodik: Die Studie wurde als offenes Design randomisiert, kontrolliert, monozentrisch im Parallel-Design durchgeführt. In die Studie wurden Probandinnen zwischen 40 und 70 Jahren mit hormonell-, altersbedingtem Haarausfall eingeschlossen. In der Behandlungsgruppe wurden 20 Probandinnen 48-mal über 6 Monate für jeweils 45 Minuten mit der Low-Level-Lasertherapie behandelt. Eine unbehandelte Gruppe von 10 Probandinnen diente als Kontrollgruppe. Der Erfolg der Therapie wurde vor und nach Behandlung mittels Fototrichogramm dokumentiert. Außerdem wurde am Ende der Behandlung die subjektive Einschätzung mittels Fragebogen erfasst.

Ergebnisse: Nach 6-monatiger Behandlung nahm die mittlere Gesamthaardichte in der Behandlungsgruppe im Vergleich zur Kontrollgruppe signifikant zu (p = 0,0215), was insbesondere auf die signifikante Zunahme der Vellus-Haardichte (145 %) der behandelten Gruppe im Vergleich zur Kontrollgruppe (20 %) (p = 0,0151) zurückzuführen ist. Weiterhin stieg die Anagen-Haarrate in der Behandlungsgruppe signifikant an (unbehandelte Gruppe: 77,9 % auf 81,9 %; p = 0,247), behandelte Gruppe: 77,4 % auf 83,7 % p = 0,0003).

Mithilfe der subjektiven Einschätzung wurde im Vergleich zur Kontrollgruppe eine signifikante Verbesserung des Haarausfalls (p < 0,0001), eine Reduktion kahler Stellen und Zunahme der Zufriedenheit mit dem Zustand der Haare in den Geheimratsecken und der Scheitelregion (p < 0,0001) bestätigt. Haardicke und Kräftigkeit nahmen subjektiv signifikant zu (p < 0,0001).

Schlussfolgerung: Durch die 6-monatige Behandlung mit der Low-Level-Lasertherapie (savehair) verbesserte sich die Gesamthaardichte signifikant und diese Therapie kann damit eine sichere und potenziell wirksame Behandlungsoption bei Frauen mit hormonell-, altersbedingtem Haarausfall darstellen.

Abstract

Aim of the study: In women and men, hair loss presents a widely-spread problem. Aim of the current study was to evaluate the effects of low level laser-therapy (savehair) on hair density of terminal- and vellus hairs, as well as the ratio between anagen and telogen hairs.

Methods: The study was an open, randomized, controlled, monocentric study with parallel design. Female volunteers between 40 and 70 years with hormonal, age-related hair loss were included in the study. 20 volunteers were treated 48-times within 6 months for 45 minutes, each using the safehair-therapy. Ten untreated volunteers served as control-group. The effects of the therapy were documented before and after the 6 months’ treatment phase, using phototrichogram and subjective questionnaires.

Results: After 6 months of treatment, total hair density was significantly increased in the treatment group in comparison to the control-group (p = 0,0215) which can mainly be attributed to the significant increase of vellus hair growth (145 %) in the treatment group in comparison to the control-group (20 %) (p = 0,0151). The anagen hair rate was significantly increased in the treatment group (control-group: 77,9 % to 81,9 %; p = 0,247; treatment-group: 77,4 % to 83,7 % p = 0,0003). The subjective assessment resulted in significant improvement of hair loss (p < 0,0001), reduction of bald spot, and an increased satisfaction of hair condition in the areas: receding hairline and parting area (p < 0,0001). Hair density and hair strength were subjectively also significantly increased (p < 0,0001).

Conclusion: The 6 months’ intervention with low level laser therapy (savehair) resulted in significantly increased hair density and subjective satisfaction. This indicates an effective and safe therapy for treatment of women with hormonal, age-related hair loss, free from pain and side effects.
