Summary
The effects of prolonged venous stasis on release of plasminogen activators (PA) from
the caval vein of rats were studied.
PA activity was continuously reduced in the intimal layer and after 8 hr of stasis
the reduction was statistically significant. After 2 and 3 days no intimal PA activity
was found. The PA activity in the adventitial vasa vasorum was unchanged during the
experimental period.
