DIAPAS: A »Personalized Alerting Service« for Diabetes

Bibliographie citations are selectively disseminated to diabetes researchers and clinicians by’a system utilizing the MEDLARS tape record. Individual interest profiles were constructed which, being constantly refined by the users’ critical response to retrieved information, represent coordinated sets of search terms in machine-readable form. The design and functions of DIAPAS are outlined together with an evaluation of the results in the first six months of experimental service.

Bibliographische Zitate werden mittels eines Systems, das das MEDLARS-Band auswertet, Diabetesforschern und Klinikern in gezielter Form zugänglich gemacht. Es wurden individuelle Interessenprofile aufgestellt, die, ständig verfeinert durch die kritischen Benutzerantworten auf die gelieferte Information, koordinierte Sätze von Suchbegriffen in maschinenlesbarer Form darstellen. Der Aufbau und die Funktionen von DIAPAS und die Ergebnisse der Recherchen in den ersten sechs Monaten der experimentellen Anwendung des Systems werden beschrieben.
