Schizophrenie und parietaler Kortex

Zusammenfassung

Die Rolle des parietalen Kortex in der Ätiopathogenese der Schizophrenie ist ein noch weitgehend unerforschtes Gebiet. Zwar konnten strukturelle und funktionelle Auffälligkeiten in Studien mit schizophrenen Patienten in dieser Hirnregion nachgewiesen werden, jedoch fehlt bisher eine übergreifende Deutung der Ergebnisse. Ausgehend von neueren bildgebenden Befunden entwickeln wir Hypothesen zum Zusammenhang zwischen Parietalkortex und schizophrener Psychopathologie, wie Ich-Störungen und sozialen Defiziten.

Summary

The role of the parietal cortex in the etiology of schizophrenia remainsa largely unexplored field of research. Although structural and functional abnormalities in this brain area have been described in patients with schizophrenia, there is no explanatory hypothesis as how parietal cortex pathology might relate to symptoms and cognition in this disorder. Starting from some newer functional neuroimaging results, we develop a hypothesis how the parietal cortex and psychopathology in schizophrenia might be connected.
