Zusammenfassung

Verdauung, Nährstoff- und Vitaminaufnahme und Infektionsabwehr sind komplexe Prozesse des Verdauungssystems, an denen symbiotische Darmbakterien essentiell beteiligt sind. Die Auswirkungen dieses Zusammenspiels bestimmter Darmbakterien auf unser Immunsystem und unsere Gesundheit sind tiefgreifend. Störungen der symbiotischen Darmflora, die man auch als Dysbiosen bezeichnet, begünstigen die Ansiedlung pathogener Mikroorganismen und stehen in einem direkten Zusammenhang mit einer Vielzahl von Stoffwechselstörungen und Krankheiten. Übergewicht, Nahrungsmittelallergien, chronisch entzündliche Darmerkrankungen und sogar neuronale Entwicklungsstörungen, wie Autismus, können die Folge sein.
