Zusammenfassung

Die Beratung ist ein essenzieller Teil der sprachtherapeutischen Behandlung des frühkindlichen Stotterns. Dabei stellt sowohl die fachliche, als auch die begleitende Beratung einen integralen Teil eines jeden Behandlungsansatzes dar. Zu Beginn des therapeutischen Prozesses steht die Bildung einer vertrauensvollen Beziehung zwischen Eltern und Therapeutin[*] im Vordergrund. Dies bildet die Grundlage, um Entscheidungen wie den Zeitpunkt eines Therapiebeginns oder das spezifische therapeutische Vorgehen gemeinsam festlegen zu können. Ein fundiertes Wissen der Therapeutin bezüglich der genauen Beratungsinhalte und Hintergründe der verschiedenen evidenzbasierten Behandlungsmöglichkeiten stellt eine unerlässliche Basis dar.

Abstract

Both the consultation and counseling of parents with young children who stutter are essential parts of early stuttering intervention. In addition to the education on possible etiological factors, building rapport in order to create a collaborative basis in planning future therapeutic steps is a key responsibility of the practicing clinician. In the treatment of early childhood stuttering in particular, numerous decisions in terms of the onset and content of a speech-pathological intervention have to be made. This article introduces the role of family-centred consultation/counseling in early childhood stuttering treatment. It further summarizes different intervention approaches, their theoretical background as well as clinical tools utilized, and outlines in how far consultation and counseling are a part of these approaches.
