Significance

Polystyrene-supported gold(I) complex 3 was designed, prepared, and found to promote the gold(I)-catalyzed reaction with comparable activity to its monomeric counterpart. Thus, enynyl acetate 4 underwent tandem 3,3-rearrangement and Nazarov-type reaction in the presence of polystyrene-supported gold(I) complex 3 (6 mol% Au) to give cyclopentenone 5 in 94% yield within 30 minutes. After 14 reuses, catalyst 3 was still effective to promote the reaction to completion, although the reaction rate decreased gradually.
