Asymmetric Synthesis of α-Sulfenyl Ketones Using Thiols

Significance

Coltart and co-workers report a catalytic asymmetric addition of thiols to nitroalkenes using amino thiourea catalyst 1. The desired products, α-sulfenylated ketones, were obtained in good yields and enantioselectivities via a catalytic asymmetric sulfenylation of in situ derived nitrosoalkenes.
