Significance

In this report, the intramolecular palladium-catalyzed decarboxylative asymmetric allylic alkylation discovered in a total synthesis project is investigated in more detail using β-keto esters as the model substrates. The counterion has also been demonstrated to be the enantio­selectivity-determining factor.
