Significance

An efficient method for the highly enantioselective synthesis of flavanones via rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric 1,4-addition of boronic acids to chromene derivatives is described. The reaction is achieved using the rhodium catalyst with highly electron-poor chiral diphosphine MeO-F12-BIPHEP as ligand.
