Significance

Allenes are useful partners in metal-catalyzed cycloadditions. The authors present a novel decarbonylative cycloaddition between ­phthalic anhydrides and allenes, providing interesting heterocycles. By utilizing chiral foxap ligands, moderate to good enantioselectivity can be achieved.
