Significance

Axially chiral phosphine ligands have been widely used in numerous metal-catalyzed asymmetric syntheses since its discovery. In this report an improved rhodium-catalyzed [2+2+2] cycloaddition is developed to enable the enantioselective synthesis of a chiral bis-phosphine ligand with higher steric demand directly from its poly-yne precursor.
