Significance

Hydroxyapatite-supported gold nanoparticles (AuHAP) catalyzed the deoxygenation reaction of amides 1, sulfoxides 2, and pyridine N-oxides 3 with PhMe2SiH to give the corresponding amines 4, sulfides 5, and pyridines 6 in 80-99%, 89 to >99%, and 89 to >99% yield, respectively. The catalyst was recovered by simple filtration and reused twice without significant loss of its catalytic activity. No leaching of Au was observed by ICP-AES analysis after the reaction.
