Significance

Building upon previous work (L. Liu, P. E. Floreancig Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2010, 49, 3069) the authors address stereochemical issues in the intramolecular Prins-type cyclization for the synthesis of tertiary ethers. The authors put forth two simple models for under-standing the selectivity of the cyclization. It is anticipated that these models will find use in more complex substrates.
