Significance

The authors developed a copper/zinc catalyst system that nicely catalyzes the conjugate addition to cyclic and acyclic enones. Having both copper and zinc centers, this system gives high reactivity and selectivity for the conjugate addition of organozinc reagents to enones. The new ligand design is particularly interesting and may be useful for other applications.
