Significance

Carbonylation reactions of aryl iodides using the association of Pd/C and microwave dielectric heating were described. Microwave-assisted carbonylation of aryl iodides with alcohols or amines was carried out under CO in the presence of Pd/C and DBU to give the corresponding esters (20 to >99% yield, 16 examples) or amides (60-95% yield, 9 examples). Cyclocarbonylation of o-iodoaniline with acyl chlorides or a hydroxysuccinimido derivative led to the corresponding benzoxazinones (45-82% yield, six examples) under similar conditions.
