Significance

The authors have developed a palladium-catalyzed difunctionalization of alkenes involving the addition of two distinct nucleophiles. The difunctionalized products were obtained in good yields, moderate to good diastereoselectivities and excellent enantioselectivities. It is noted that the scope of this methodology could be extended to carbon nucleophiles, affording the Diels-Alder products in good diastereoselectvities and excellent enantioselectivities.
