Significance

The authors demonstrated the ­utility of stable, easy to handle diethanolamine ­boronates for the highly regioselective preparation of allenes including haloallenes and homopropargylic alcohols. The starting propargyl boronates are readily available, thus the whole sequence gives a simple regioselective approach to substituted allenes and homopropargylic alcohols.
