Significance

Substituted indolizidines and quinolizidines are heterocyclic motifs found in a wide range of bioactive natural products and have been the topic of considerable interest in organic and medicinal chemistry. The authors report a convergent stereoselective synthesis of substituted indolizidines and quinolizidines 4 through chemoselective coupling of functionalized allylsilanes 1 with imines 2. These highly substituted and stereodefined systems were obtained in good yield and high stereoselectivity.
