Significance

A novel straightforward and general method for the 1,3-butadien-2-ylation of imines is presented. The resulting 2-aminomethyl-1,3-dienes could also be obtained via a one-pot three-component variant of this reaction involving aldehydes, amines, and organoindium reagents.
